Apex Legends launched back in February of this year and quickly became one of the most popular battle-royale games on the market. During EA Play, Respawn Entertainment announced the second season of their battle-royale game and announced a brand new playable character by the name of Wattson.
With such popularity, you might expect the studio to make use of it and make an
Apex Legends sequel. This isn't the case, however, as an executive producer of the game recently stated that Respawn Entertainment are never going to make an
Apex Legends 2. Drew McCoy recently did and interview with
USGamer wherein he discussed the constant demand from the game's fanbase.
"Most people don't realize how long it takes to make anything, and so a character for us takes about a year and a half to make. So we've been playing Wattson since early last year, but we have so much stuff in the pipe right now coming that people are always like, 'So what are you guys gonna do for this or that?' Like dude, we're thinking years ahead at this point."
McCoy then said that players shouldn't ever expect an
Apex Legends sequel and that they're focus is entirely on the actual battle-royale game and its second season:
"We're never gonna make an Apex 2; hoping next Season 2 is awesome. That's kind of where our head is at: how are we setting this up for the long term."
