In a rather unexpected turn of events, CD Projekt RED has just announced that the highly anticipated, and long-delayed Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed once more. Yes, we are dead serious.

Well, sh*t. We may have some upsettingnews for players who have been eagerly anticipating the release of Cyberpunk 2077, and have been disappointed every time the developers at CD Projekt RED have found themselves having to push back its long-awaited release, as the game is being delayed once again.

No, seriously, CD Projekt RED has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 will no longer be releasing on Thursday the 19th of November; in spite of them already reassuring players that the game would not be delayed any more, which is news that they actually shared last month.

CD Projekt RED had even gone as far as revealing, a short two weeks ago, that Cyberpunk 2077 had gone gold, and that the highly anticipated title was ready to be shipped to retailers; further cementing its November release date.

According to the official statement issued by the Polish developer, Cyberpunk 2077 will now be releasing on Thursday the 10th of December, which is only a 21-day delay; apologising to fans who have been anticipating the release, but promising that the game being pushed back is justified.

The good news is that Cyberpunk 2077 may be releasing on both current-gen and next-gen platforms once it finally hits store shelves, since CD Projekt RED's announcement makes it very clear that they are focusing on shipping every version of the game on the new release date.

CD Projekt RED's full statement reads as follows:

"Hey everyone,

Today, we've decided to move the release date of Cyberpunk 2077 by 21 days. The new release date is December 10th. Most likely, there are many emotions and questions in your heads, so, first and foremost, please accept our humble apologies.
The biggest challenge for us right now is shipping the game on current-gen, next-gen, and PC at the same time, which requires us to prepare and test 9 versions of it (Xbox One/X, compatibility on Xbox Series SIX, PS4/Pro, compatibility on PS5, PC, Stadia)... while working from home.

Since Cyberpunk 2077 evolved towards almost being a next-gen title somewhere along the way, we need to make sure everything works well and every version runs smoothly. We're aware it might seem unrealistic when someone says that 21 days can make any difference in such a massive and complex game, but they really do.

Some of you might also be wondering what these words mean in light of us saying we achieved gold master some time ago. Passing certification, or 'going gold', means the game is ready, can be completed, and has all content in it. Out it doesn't mean we stop working on it and raising the quality bar. On the contrary, this is the time where many improvements are being made which will then be distributed via a Day 0 patch. This is the time period we undercalculated.

We feel we have an amazing game on our hands and are willing to make every decision, even the hardest ones, if it ultimately leads to you getting a video game you'll fall in love with."

Cyberpunk 2077 will be releasing for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Stadia on Thursday the 10th of December.
