Fighting with a will of their own, Eidolons serve as powerful allies. In gestalt mode, players can perform punishing attacks from the back of a transformed Eidolon.

Players can summon the battle team leader’s Eidolon by expending technical points. During normal mode, Eidolons will take the place of the other party members and fight alongside the summoner. SP represents both the Eidolon’s HP and time gauge. When SP reaches 0, the Eidolon will leave the battle.

Also present during normal mode is the gestalt gauge. This gauge fills up as the player chains attacks with the Eidolon.

At any time before SP reaches 0, the player can initiate gestalt mode. In gestalt mode, attacks are dealt through the on-screen button commands, each with an associated time unit cost. The number of time units that can be allocated depends on how full the gestalt gauge was. When all points have been expended, the Eidolon will be dismissed, but not before restoring the entire party’s HP and also removing any status ailments.

Odin

The lone warrior Odin is Lightning’s Eidolon.

Odin uses an array of impressive sword techniques with his double-edged blade and calls upon powerful lightning strikes to dispose of all who stand in his way.

In gestalt mode, Odin hands his blade to Lightning and transforms into the perfect companion, the mighty steed Sleipnir.

Shiva

Snow’s Eidolon, Shiva, appears in the form of twin sisters for the first time in the series.

The older of the Twin Sisters, Stiria, uses magic to attack and heal, while Nix specializes in using her tire for melee attacks.

In gestalt mode, the sisters combine to form a motorcycle. Together, Snow and Shiva turn enemies into diamond dust.

Brynhildr

Sazh’s Eidolon is the fiery Brynhildr, who makes her series debut.

Brynhildr’s scythe deals heavy damage to multiple enemies, or it can be used as a gun to damage foes with various elemental attacks.

In gestalt mode, Brynhildr takes the form of an armored vehicle. With aerial supporters backing them up, no enemy is ready for the destructive force Sazh and Brynhildr bring to the field.

Bahamut

Fang’s Eidolon is the series regular Bahamut, who now takes on a humanoid form.

Bahamut uses his intimidating claws and infernal breath to relentlessly attack enemies.

In gestalt mode, Bahamut takes on his traditional dragon form. Fang and Bahamut’s ruthless air assaults make them a true terror in the sky.

Alexander

Aiding Hope on his journey is the colossal guardian Alexander.

Alexander uses his size to his advantage, delivering powerful blows to enemies.

In gestalt mode, Alexander joins with additional parts to become a fortress armed with cannons. Judgment will be passed to those unfortunate enough to find themselves standing in front of Alexader’s wall.

Hecatoncheir

Vanille’s Eidolon is the multi-armored Hecatoncheir, another Eidolon new to the series.

With numerous harpoon-like arms, Hecatoncheir mercilessly thrusts at enemies.

In gestalt mode, Hecatoncheir resemebles Magitek Armor. His arms form large barrel guns that endlessly shoot at enemies.
