Gwent, what was supposed to be a small mini-game in the massive world of The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, became one of the most time-consuming and beloved parts of the game. CD Projekt Red was generous enough to make
Gwent: Thronbreaker, a single-player campaign for lovers of the Witcher card game.
Unfortunately, fans will have to wait another year to play Thronebreaker as CD Projekt Red delays release to increase the campaign's scope and for additional polishing. Despite the disappointment for some people, CDPR insists that they do not take their extra development time for granted and that they will offer a much better final result for players.
Co-founder of CDPR, Marcin Iwiński, reassures fans and apologizes for the delay (via
PCgamer):
"Shifting release windows is always something we approach seriously, however, we’ll never hesitate to do it if we feel you’ll get a better game as a result. I would like to apologize everyone who planned to play Thronebreaker over the Holidays—I assure you that we will do our best to make the final game worth the additional wait."
