The legends of Japanese video game development have united to create
Left Alive, a brand new shooter with elements of survival. The group includes Toshifumi Nabeshima (the
Armored Core series), Yoji Shinkawa (the
METAL GEAR SOLID series), and Takayuki Yanase (
Ghost in the Shell: Arise, Xenoblade Chronicles X). Thanks to an annual Square Enix’s earning report we have a better understanding of what the game will be.
According to the publisher, the budget of
Left Alive is not massive, but Square Enix will try to start a new franchise with it. It’s good news considering that games like
Asura’s Wrath never received a sequel due to overblown budgets. Content-wise, the game will try to be “satisfying in a hardcore way”, and that’s exactly how the publisher will market it.
LEFT ALIVE tells a human story of survival from the perspective of three different protagonists during the devastating invasion set in war-torn Novo Slava in 2127. Experience the massive power gap between man and machine in pulse-pounding encounters: face off against powerfully armed troops, armored vehicles and towering mechs. Uncover the full story behind the war through the eyes of three different characters: as you progress through the game, experience multiple story paths each requiring bold decisions with desperate consequences.
Left Alive releases on PS4 and PC in 2018.
