The Warren Spector-directed
System Shock 3 (currently in the works at OtherSide Entertainment) is not the only project set in the dangerous
System Shock universe that deserves your close attention. After nearly two decades, the ambitious team at Nightdive Studios is working hard to reboot and re-imagine 1994's original video game that ultimately became the direct inspiration for the very first
BioShock.
Nightdive Studios has released over 20 minutes of never-before-seen gameplay footage from the latest build of
System Shock, and there's no denying that it looks pretty amazing. While the studio's notes under the said video warn us that it's not the final version and it's "
missing enemies, weapons, effects, and sounds," it's still an impressive showcase that's seemingly capturing the beloved original’s spirit.
Considering that this System Shock remake has been in development since 2016, there's a rather big chance that Nightdive won't delay the title yet again (the game was supposed to launch in December 2017, then in the second quarter of 2018, and now it won't be releasing until early 2020). While the behind-the-scenes drama surrounding
System Shock might be worrisome, let's just hope for the best.

System Shock in the latest footage down below:
