Live-Action RAINBOW SIX Movie In The Works; DEADPOOL's Ryan Reynolds Eyed To Star
Despite the mixed fortune of movies like Assassin's Creed and Warcraft, a number of video game movies are still in the works and the latest might just be Rainbow Six with Ryan Reynolds set to star...
According to Deadline, prolific producer and writer Akiva Goldsman has been chosen by Paramount Pictures to oversee a live-action adaptation of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six. The long-running series seems well suited to the big screen and while it's still very early days, rumour has it that the filmmaker wants Ryan Reynolds to headline the prospective franchise.
This is another property Ubisoft wants to be heavily involved in adapting so here's hoping this one pans out better than Assassin's Creed. On the surface, that movie had all the makings of a hit but it proved to be a disappointment which neither made fans of the games happy nor sat well with critics and moviegoers.
Of course, movies based on Tom Clancy's work have done pretty well over the years so there's a chance Rainbow Six could connect with audiences in a way Assassin's Creed failed to. We'll just have to wait and see but the addition of Reynolds would definitely help matters. The movie is a long way off regardless, so we'll keep you updated as we hear more.
