Outright Games has shared a batch of new screenshots for its upcoming game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed, a new 3D brawler/platformer developed in collaboration with Paramount Game Studios.
Based on Paramount Pictures' recent blockbuster film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, the upcoming game captures the playful teen spirit of the world's pizza-loving crime-fighters.
Set after the events of the film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will deliver an "engaging, original storyline" featuring humor and action-packed combative gameplay.
In "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed", after finally being accepted into society and pursuing their dream of attending a regular high school, the Turtles' newfound happiness is abruptly interrupted by a new wave of mutants causing unrest across New York City. Players take control of the four masked heroes, each with their own unique playstyle, as they traverse the sewers and city streets of New York. With an immersive world to explore both above and below ground, meet familiar faces as the ragtag heroes in a half shell gear up to delight fans at home with their chaotic capers.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is developed by A Heartful of Games, a studio that has previous experience working on another family-friendly property in DreamWorks Dragons: Legends of the Nine Realms.
"We're delighted to be continuing our collaboration with Paramount to deliver an exhilarating new chapter in the incredible universe of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," said Stephanie Malhalm, COO of Outright Games. "As a franchise that started in comic books and rocketed into a global phenomenon, we couldn't be more excited to offer fans, new and old, a high-energy, interactive story-driven experience. We're looking forward to sharing more of the dynamic universe we've created alongside A Heartful of Games in the coming months."
Paramount's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem received critical acclaim and sits at 95% on the Tomatometer. The film was equally as popular with moviegoers as evidenced by its impressive 90% Audience Score. Not only was Mutant Mayhem praised for its unique animation style, but also its willingness to explore the teenage aspect of the turtles, drawing inspiration from teenage coming-of-age films.
"With its unique visual style and a story that captures the essence of the franchise's appeal, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is an animated treat for the whole family," the critics' consensus reads.
There's no release date yet, but Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is targeting a Q4 2024 launch. It will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam).
It will be priced at $39.99 with a special Walmart Edition (available only in the Americas) that comes with an exclusive unlockable in-game costume.
