Last month, prominant video game journalist Geoff Keighley and The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley confirmed that 2020's show would not be canceled, even with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It was finally announced today that The Game Awards 2020 will be hosted on December 10 in a digital format.

This year's show will air in 4K UHD from studio locations across multiple cities, including Los Angeles, Tokyo, and London. There will be no live audience, for obvious reasons, and the show will consist of live award presentations, mustical performances, and, of course, world premiere game announcements. Geoff Keighley will return to host it.

While the purpose of The Game Awards is to recognize and honor some of the industry's best work over the year, most gamers tune in for the premiere announcements. The Game Awards has been host to some of the biggest trailers and reveals in the past.

As for the reward aspect, there will be a new Innovation in Accessibility award which recognizes software and hardware developers "that are pushing the medium forward by adding features, technology and content to help games be played and enjoyed by an even wider audience." The category will likely recognize everything from colorblind mode features to Microsoft's adaptive controller. Naughty Dog's The Last of Us: Part II was widely praised for its accessbility options which featured over 60 settings to help with those who suffer from vision and hearing impairements.

The Game Awards 2020 will be livestreamed on December 10. It will be available across 45 global video platforms.
