Sony has been trying to get a movie based on the popular
Uncharted video game series out for so long that Mark Wahlberg was once up for the role of Nathan Drake whereas now he's officially attached as Sully. Tom Holland, best known for playing Peter Parker A.K.A. Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will serve as PlayStation's rogue scoundrel — Nathan Drake.
Travis Knight (
Bumblebee) was on-board to direct but recently departed on account of scheduling issues. It has been reported that Ruben Fleischer (
Venom) is being eyed to take Knight's place —
more on that here. Now that you're up to speed; the
Uncharted movie has been delayed (via
Deadline).
Prior to today, the
Uncharted movie was set to arrive in theatres on December 8th of this year. The live-action video game movie is now set to arrive in theatres on March 5th, 2021. That's (essentially) a four month delay that will see the
Uncharted movie go up against Paramount's
Jackass 4.
It's not the only live-action adaptation of Sony's that has seen a delay as the same can be said for their
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe movie. Only it's much more dire in that case as it seems the project has been delayed indefinitely —
find out more on that here.
Here's hoping it'll be smooth sailing for the Uncharted movie from now on — as it certainly hasn't been thus far.
