Vampyr is the upcoming action-RPG that's being created by Dontnod Entertainment, the studio that gave us Remember Me and the Life is Strange series. This time, the French developer will tackle with the subject of the 1919 Spanish flu that erupted in London, changing citizens into hungry monsters. You will play as Dr. Jonathan Reid who has returned from the Great War only to be killed, but death is just the beginning of Reid's journey of self-discovery. He has to learn who has caused his transformation into a vampire, how to stop the disease, and most importantly, how to stay alive in the mad city.
The newest gameplay trailer for
Vampyr titled "
Becoming the Monster" focuses on Dr. Reid's set of powers. His abilities aren't unlimited as he constantly needs to gain the XP points to enhance his skills. As you can guess, you can treat the mortals as blood bags which is the easiest source to level up. But don't forget that you're a doctor for a reason and your main quest is saving lives, not taking them, so Jonathan's investigating skills will help you to decide who is more ‘deserving’ of bloody sacrifice.
Killing too many citizens may cause an entire district to collapse and taking lives of certain citizens will have a greater impact on the local ecosystem than others. After draining the blood of his victims, Reid can learn and evolve powerful combat abilities such as Bloodspear that allows him to deal damage from a distance or Abyss that is necessary to unleash the shadows from within. Rage is one of the most powerful attacks as it targets and strikes entire groups of enemies with a terrible and unstoppable fury.
These abilities will aid in Dr. Jonathan Reid’s quest to save dying, mad London – but at what cost?
London, 1918. You are newly-turned Vampyr Dr. Jonathan Reid. As a doctor, you must find a cure to save the city’s flu-ravaged citizens. As a Vampyr, you are cursed to feed on those you vowed to heal. Will you embrace the monster within? Survive and fight against Vampyr hunters, undead skals, and other supernatural creatures. Use your unholy powers to manipulate and delve into the lives of those around you, to decide who will be your next victim. Struggle to live with your decisions… your actions will save or doom London.
Vampyr is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on June 5, 2018.
