Randy Orton has some pretty awesome looking tattoos but those are now the focus of a lawsuit being aimed at WWE and 2K Games. The artist responsible for them is suing both companies because they used them without her permission (who knew that tattoos could be copyrighted; after all, while she may have designed them, Orton had them put on his body so can she really claim to own them?).
Apparently, after raising the issue with WWE back in 2009 Catherine Alexander was offered $450 for the rights to use the designs and refused. She claims that she's responsible for the tribal tattoo on his upper back and his full sleeve which features everything from skulls to bible verses and a rose.
Last year, a tattoo artist's case against the NBA video games was allowed to proceed for similar reasons but there's no precedent for this type of thing so who knows what will happen. Either way, it's hard to imagine Alexander (or anyone) being able to compete with companies as huge as WWE and 2K Games!
