Mario Tennis Aces recently got the Version 3.0 update, which is adding the new Ring Shot mode, a Yoshi-themed co-op challenge that has players playing as different Yoshis and shooting rings, and the usual character balances.

What's interesting, though, is that this new update is also adding a new opening movie that gives us some exposition on how Wario and Waluigi got their hands on the legendary racket from the Temple of Bask, which is also cursed.

In the original opening movie, players got some exposition via in-game dialogue at the beginning of the game. Now the new opening movie shows Wario and Waluigi actually searching for this racket, finding it, and then showing up at the tennis tournament.

Mario Tennis Aces has been getting content quite often, with new characters and updates that improve the game's performance being released almost monthly since the game's original launch, which is something that has managed to keep players coming back to the game; a game that was pretty barebones when it just come out.

Check out the new opening movie and the new Ring Shot mode below:

Unleash an arsenal of shots and strategies in all-out tennis battles with friends, family, and fan-favorite Mushroom Kingdom characters. Whether you play locally, online, or using simple motion controls, intense rallies await!

Mario Tennis Aces is currently available for the Nintendo Switch.
