Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, for the Nintendo Switch, is a port of the game released for the Nintendo Wii U and developed by Retro Studios, who are the ones responsible for reviving the
Metroid series with the
Metroid Prime games. The game originally came out in 2014 and is considered to be one of the best games on the Wii U, getting praise for its level design and beautifully realised soundtrack by original
Donkey Kong Country composer, David Wise.
Given the poor sales of the Wii U , due to a poor marketing strategy by Nintendo, it was only a matter of time until the game got ported to the remarkably successful Nintendo Switch. The game will be adding what is called the "Funky Mode" in which players will be able to play as fan-favourite Kong, Funky, in what's considered to be the game's Easy mode.
Besides Funky Mode, the game doesn't seem to be coming with any other additions but that doesn't mean fans won't be getting their money's worth. After all, it is a fantastic game that no fan of platformers should skip, especially now that players will be able to take the game on-the-go on the Nintendo Switch.
