Capcom announced plans to host a Monster Hunter Digital Event on Thursday, January 7. The livestream will be held on Twitch and begins at 6:00 a.m. PST | 14:00 GMT.
As for the details of the stream, Capcom promises "big news and reveals" for Monster Hunter Rise, the next game in the publisher's action role-playing series. We'll likely also learn the date of the upcoming beta for the game, which is scheduled for sometime this month.
Monster Hunter Rise follows the highly successful 2018 title, Monster Hunter World. The concept of the game remains the same; players take on the role of a Monster Hunter and slay large beasts using a variety of weapons and tools. All 14 weapon types from Generations and Worlds will be featured in the game along with some new additions, like the Wirebug. Similar to the Clutch Claw in Iceborne, the Wirebug is a grappling hook-type tool that now only allows players greater freedom to move through the air, but also perform powerful attacks and aerial dodges.
Monster Hunter Rise will feature a mix of new and returning monsters as well. It's likely that some of these monsters will be revealed during the livestream.
Monster Hunter Rise is scheduled to release on March 26, 2021 exclusively for Nintendo Switch. In addition to the beta dates, it's possible the live stream will reveal any sort of preorder bonuses for the game.
