Kirby Star Allies is the latest entry in the
Kirby series developed by Hal Laboratory and published by Nintendo, released for the Nintendo Switch earlier in March of this year.
Like most games in the series,
Kirby Star Allies has players take control of Kirby—who can inhale enemies and copy their abilities—making for some very interesting mechanics. The difference with other
Kirby titles is that
Star Allies focuses a little bit more on co-op gameplay, allowing players to team up with up to 3 friends, or simply play solo and befriend 3 enemies to help them out on their journey.
Kirby Star Allies is still being supported and Nintendo has released free downloadable characters that have been introduced in previous entries. Wave 1 of DLC characters include
Kirby's Dreamland 2 companions Rick, Kine and Coo(all three counting as one character), and Gooey,
Kirby Super Star's main antagonist Marx, and
Kirby's Return to Dreamland Bandana Waddle Dee.
Wave 2 of DLC characters include other classic
Kirby games in the series, and today Nintendo has released trailers for all three of them. These characters are Dark Meta Knight from
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, Adeleine & Ribbon from
Kirby's Dream Land 3 and
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards—respectively—and Daroach from
Kirby Squak Squad.

Kirby Star Allies is currently available for the Nintendo Switch.
