Nintendo has announced a new color option for its line of Nintendo Switch Lite consoles. Starting on May 21, gamers will be able to purchase the Nintendo Switch Lite in the new blue color for its regular retail price of $199.99.
The new color brings the total number of color options for the handheld console to five. The system can also come in coral, yellow, gray, and turquoise.
The new color option is probably appreciated for those who care about that sort of thing, but most current Switch owners are probably hoping for Nintendo to announce the Nintendo Switch Pro, a more powerful version of the Switch that's currently heavily rumored. Nintendo has made no such announcement.
The Nintendo Switch Lite launched in September 2019 as a way to attract casual games who may be interested in Nintendo games but don't want to spend the money on a full-blown home console. The Switch Lite can only be played in handheld mode, and because of that, not every Switch game is compatible.
That said, two of Nintendo's most anticipated games coming in the next few weeks are both playable on the Nintendo Switch Lite. New Pokemon Snap, releasing on April 30, will be playable on the Switch Lite, as will Miitopia, which launches on May 21 -- the same day as the debut of the blue Nintendo Switch Lite.
