Octopath Traveler is Square Enix's next role-playing game coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch and will be releasing on the 13th of July. The game will let players choose amongst eight playable characters to start their adventure and let them add the other characters to their party as they play through the story.

Today we got some great news about the game coming from an interview with Dengeki Online, via Siliconera, who sat down with Octopath Traveler game producer Masashi Takahashi. According to the source, Mr. Takahashi said they haven't even thought about the idea of having DLC since the retail version is already a complete game. This is great news for people who have been anticipating the game for a while now, especially since in this day and age a complete game right out of the box is a rare thing—and an exception to the norm.

Mr. Takahshi also shared some other details about the game like the fact that Octopath Traveler was always intended to be on the Nintendo Switch—beginning development even before anyone knew what the Nintendo Switch was. When asked about the game featuring a New Game Plus, Mr. Takahashi mentions that there is no such mode and that the game was developed so that players can finish the game in one playthrough, as well as sharing some other interesting details. To learn more about the game head over to Siliconera and read some of the interview's highlights by clicking here.

It certainly is refreshing to know that Octopath Traveler will offer players the full experience when they beging playing the game and will not have to worry about missing out on extra DLC that they either aren't willing to pay, or can't afford. Octopath Traveler seems to not only be harkening back to games from the 16-Bit era with its beautiful pixel art style but also by giving players something that very few games are offering these days: a full game.

Eight travelers. Eight adventures. Eight roles to play in a new world brought to life by Square Enix. Explore each traveler’s story and use their abilities in and out of battle. Will you expand your horizons as the Merchant or track down a traitor as the Warrior? Where will you go? Who will join you? You alone can choose your path.

Octopath Traveler will release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on the 13th of July.
