Octopath Traveler is Square Enix's new turn-based role-playing game coming out exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Although the game won't come for another whole month, today we've learned some interesting news about the team that developed the game.
As reported by
Game Informer—who got the chance to speak with division executive at Square Enix Tomoya Asano—the same team behind the development of
Octopath Traveler is working on more titles for the Nintendo Switch as the team became a division of its own.
According to Asano, "
Square Enix has decided that it wants to focus on original titles for the Switch". As he also mentions that it pretty much depends on the success of
Octopath Traveler by saying that "
if it does well and this is something that appeals to fans, we want to focus on Switch. Please pick up the Switch if you want to play games like Octopath Traveler".
He does make a point since high demand will dictate the amount of games they will be able to develop, but Asano also mentions that currently "
there are several other titles" that they're working on for the Nintendo Switch—which should definitely bring a smile to the faces of fans of the genre, as well as fans of The Big N.
Now that you've heard the man, it's time to begin anticipating
Octopath Traveler and supporting it when it releases so that we can get more quality titles from Square Enix on the Switch. In the meantime, check out the trailer for the game, and go download that demo on the Nintendo eShop—if you haven't done it already, that is.
