Nintendo's highly anticipated
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the biggest crossover fighting game in video game history, was released this past Friday for the Nintendo Switch; becoming one of the top-selling video game-related items on Amazon.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had already become the best pre-selling title in the
Super Smash Bros. series, as well as the best pre-selling title on the Nintendo Switch, so it becoming also the top-selling video game on Amazon was to be expected.
Much like the game finding success on Amazon,
GamesIndustry reports that
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has also become the fastest-selling title in the history of the
Super Smash Bros. series, beating out
Super Smash Bros. Wii U with a 302 percent higher in sales, and 233 percent higher than
Super Smash Bros. 3DS; making a lot of sense since, while they are considered pretty much the same game, the Nintendo 3DS was/is a far more successful console than the Wii U.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launch sales are also 62.5 percent higher than
Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii, although information about number sales for the original
Super Smash Bros. on the Nintendo 64, and the GameCube's
Super Smash Bros. Melee—arguably the most popular title in the series—were not included. It is also worth mentioning that these numbers only include physical sales, so overall sales should be a lot higher.
Legendary game worlds and fighters collide in the ultimate showdown—a new entry in the Super Smash Bros. series for the Nintendo Switch system! New fighters, like Inkling from the Splatoon series and Ridley from the Metroid series, make their Super Smash Bros. series debut alongside every Super Smash Bros. fighter in the series…EVER!
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is currently available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
