Xenoblade Chronicles is a role-playing game developed by Nintendo-owned company Monolith Software originally released for the Nintendo Wii in 2012.
The game has players taking the roll of Shulk, and traversing a vast open world on an alien planet, or rather two gigantic titans frozen during a fight. The game uses a real-time battle system that takes some time getting used to but flows naturally when mastered—resembling that of games like
Lineage 2 or even
World of Warcraft, to a certain degree.
The game got a sequel of sorts in the form of
Xenoblade Chronicles X in 2015, in which players were represented by an avatar and were involved as a spectator rather than a main character. The game played very similarly to the original in terms of combat, but the story was not related in any way to
Xenoblade Chronicles—this time taking place in an alien planet called Mira.
In January of 2017, Monolith Software announced a proper sequel to the original game and
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was finally released for the Nintendo Switch in December of that year.
Today, Nintendo has revealed that Elma, one of the main characters from
Xenoblade Chronicles X, will be available as part of
Xenoblade Chronicles 2's Expansion Pass. Players will be taken to Mira and will have to fight Elma and complete the Challenge Mode Battle in order to add her to their party. Elma and the
Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Expansion Pass are available
today.
Take a look:
Lost in a sea of clouds, entire civilizations rest on the backs of Titans. As the giant beasts march toward death, the last hope is a scavenger named Rex—and Pyra, a living weapon known as a Blade.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
