The Nintendo Switch keeps proving that it was the biggest winner during this past Black Friday, as information revealed by analysts has revealed that the handheld/hybrid console was
one of the most sought after items amongst consumers.
Now, some new information shared by Business Wire reveals that Nintendo managed to sell over an impressive 830,000 Nintendo Switch units during Thanksgiving week in the United States. It is also worth mentioning that both the base Nintendo Switch and the more budget-friendly Nintendo Switch Lite were considered.
According to Nintendo of America Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Nick Chavez, "
holiday shoppers see the value of Nintendo Switch, which offers a vast library of games for every type of player," while also adding that "
Whether shopping for the ideal gift or picking one up for yourself, the Nintendo Switch family of systems provides options that fit every play style."
As revealed earlier this week, some analysts believe that the Nintendo Switch's success during this past Black Friday is due to ageing competition, considering that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are nearly at the end of their life span.
The thing here is that Nintendo caters to the demographic that sees the value of handheld gaming, and they really know how to play their cards when it comes to portable consoles in general. So, while it may be true that the Nintendo Switch is a newer console than its competition, it is probably wrong to attribute its success to this factor alone.
