When Nintendo surprisingly announced Paper Mario: The Origami King, fans of the series — particularly those who have been fans since the very beginning — were not too convinced with this new game. Sure, it looked like a proper Paper Mario, but the last two entries in the series made them tread carefully.
Paper Mario: The Origami King was released on Friday the 17th of July, and fans have actually been pleasantly surprised with what Nintendo and developer Intelligent Systems have delivered, as it is a game that perfectly captures the essence of the originals, but also brings new elements to the table.
The game's reception has been so good that last week it was revealed that Paper Mario: The Origami King had become the biggest launch in the Paper Mario series in the United Kingdom; to the point the game singlehandedly sold more copies than Paper Mario: Sticker Star and Paper Mario: Colour Splash combined.
Since Paper Mario: The Origami has been embraced with arms wide open by fans, Nintendo has released an accolades trailer that not only boasts the positive reviews the game has been getting since it launched, but also showing off its beautifully realised open world and phenomenal graphics.
