Earlier in March, Nintendo revealed that they would be joining the VR craze with their newest
Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04 VR Kit, which included a bunch of constructs that take full advantage of the new virtual reality mode.
Nintendo also revealed, just a couple of weeks ago, that they would be making
Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild compatible with the Nintendo Labo VR Kit; with
Odyssey getting a few extra challenges, and
Breath of the Wild allowing players to enhance the overall experience of exploring the game's massive open world.
The free updates for
Super Mario Odyssey and
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are becoming available on the 25th of April, and today we have some new information regarding the VR compatibility with
Breath of the Wild.
As it turns out, players will not get a first-person experience, but they will take the role of spectator, and this VR update will feature rotational tracking instead of full-on head tracking — meaning that players will be able to move their heads independently of Link's movement; a feature that can be easily turned off from the game's menu.
It's definitely not as ground-breaking as some people may have wanted VR to work with
Breath of the Wild but it will definitely make for an interesting experience, regardless of it not featuring first-person view.
Stop an alien invasion, paint like an elephant, create your own VR games, and more!
