The Outer World was released for the Nintendo Switch earlier this month, and the game wasn't as well received as one would have expected. The reason why the game was poorly received was mainly due to the fact that it was heavily downgraded in terms of graphics.
While it is true that a game shouldn't be judged by its resolution, or lack thereof, The Outer Worlds on the Nintendo Switch was so heavily downgraded that it was distracting, and overall an unpleasant experience. On top of this, the game's performance was also compromised, as the game could barely hit a stable 30 frames per second.
Eurogamer's Digital Foundry, experts in video game tech analysis, analysed the Nintendo Switch version of The Outer Worlds, and concluded that the game was as ambitious as it was disappointing, especially when considering that other titles have managed to be ported and look as close as possible to a current gen game.
This isn't to say The Outer Worlds is unplayable on the Nintendo Switch, but it is something that did end up being a deciding factor for players. There is good news, however, as new information reveals that a patch that seeks to improve the game's performance is on the way.
According to Private Division, the game's publisher, a patch for the Nintendo Switch version of The Outer Worlds is currently in the works, and the developers at Virtuous are investigating how to further improve the game's performance in a way that it isn't as distracting as it is now.
Private Division hasn't revealed when this patch will become avilable, but they reassure players that they will be letting them know as soon as the update for The Outer Worlds is ready to be released.
