Aspyr has recently released a port of the classic
Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, but this isn't the first time the developer has ported PC titles to home consoles — since they have been developing macOS versions of PC titles for 20 years.
The developer also revealed that a port of
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is also being released for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, and the announcement that these two classic Star Wars games are being re-released has been very well received by fans; so much so that it has made them consider porting other titles as well.
In a recent interview with Games Industry, Elizabeth Howard — Vice President of Publishing at Aspyr — revealed that the reception to the
Star Wars Jedi Knight ports has been mind-blowing, and that there is yet more to come.
"
The reception to the Star Wars games... it just blows our mind. These are just our first two announcements and we have so much more coming. I just think that it's a good time to start telling the world about us, that we've been doing this a long time, and we're doing everything we can to deliver on these games," reveals Howard.
Aspyr hasn't only focused on ports of
Star Wars games, since they are also known for porting other titles like
Sid Meier's Civilization,
Call of Duty, and
Rollercoaster Tycoon, among others. While Elizabeth Howard doesn't reveal what other games they could port, she pretty much hinted at other
Star Wars titles making their way to home consoles. Fingers crossed for that being the case.
