With Baldur’s Gate 3 life cycle now officially complete following its final major patch, many fans have been left wondering what’s next for Larian Studios. The answer, it turns out, is two major games! While both are still under wraps about key details, they are already deep in development according to studio founder and CEO Swen Vincke.
In a recent interview, Vincke revealed that the acclaimed Belgian studio is “deep in the trenches working on [its] next big thing,” with not one, but two games in active development. While the studio is being tight-lipped about what those games are, Vincke describes them as “crazy ambitious” and admits they’ll take time.

“Predicting when those will be finished is hard,” Vincke said. “And then organizing around that is harder.”
Vincke emphasized that Larian is working toward a sustainable long-term model, where the team can balance high-quality output with creative freedom and a healthy work-life balance. He even joked that if the next game takes more than five years, his wife might divorce him.
“If we can make that work in a really good way, where we enjoy our lives, that’s going to be mission accomplished.”
While no titles have been confirmed, speculation is already swirling. A logical guess is that one of the games could be Divinity: Original Sin 3, the sequel to the hit that put Larian on the map before Baldur’s Gate 3 brought them global acclaim. The studio has significantly grown since then, and with its newly earned prestige, a return to the Divinity universe could be bigger and bolder than ever.
Vincke's comments come at a time when many studios face a familiar post-launch dilemma: what to do next. Unlike companies like BioWare, which have seen staff shifted across projects due to inactivity, Larian seems determined to avoid stagnation and keep pushing forward with passion projects.
Despite the long wait ahead, the news is encouraging for RPG fans. If Baldur’s Gate 3 was any indication, whatever Larian is cooking up next will be worth the patience.
So, while you may not be rolling initiative on a new Larian campaign anytime soon, rest assured the dice are already in motion. Only time will tell what we get or if it will be worth the wait.
