Bethesda revealed Fallout 76, a new multiplayer experience in the Fallout series, during this year's E3. While there has been some mixed reactions regarding the nature of this game, there are certainly some people out there who are pretty excited for this new title. The game will be coming out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in a couple of weeks and some Nintendo fans have been wondering if it will also be releasing on Nintendo's handheld hybrid console.

The reason for fans believing the game could make it to the Nintendo Switch is because Bethesda has been supporting Nintendo's handheld console pretty much since the beginning, releasing The Elderscrolls V: Skyrim, Doom, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, and the upcoming Doom: Eternal. Sadly, Fallout 76 will not be making it to the Switch.

During the PAX Aus yesterday, Bethesda's Pete Hines revealed that the have had talks about bringing Fallout 76 to the Nintendo Switch but it just wasn't possible.

"The Switch is something I can say with certainty that it's a part of every conversation with every dev we have now about what we're doing going forward because we consider it to be a viable platform. If the game will work on it, we want it to be on every platform possible. Fallout 76 is not because it just wasn't doable", explained Hines while quickly explaining that they always consider the Switch when developing a new game.

"But honestly, there is no game in development that we haven't had a conversation about [bringing it to Switch]. 'Does this work on the Switch, do you have a plan for the Switch?' It's not a mandate. Everything we do has to be developer-led, but it's something we want to make sure is on folks' radar".

Hines also revealed that they are actually pleased to be considered the third-party developer that has been supporting the Nintendo Switch since the very beginning.

"I enjoy us being seen as the third-party leader in terms of supporting Switch," he added. "People go, 'Hey, you've got a lot more stuff [on Switch] than this publisher or that publisher.' That's what I want Bethesda to be known as. We're guys who will take some risks".

While it was a risky move, especially after the commercial flop that the Nintendo Wii U was, supporting the Switch for them has now become a no-brainer mainly because the Switch is a commercial success; making it a viable platform to develop games for.

"You go where the money is because that's how you stay in business. What we have seen compels us to say, '[Switch] is a viable platform for the kind of things we do going forward'".

Just like Doom: Eternal making it to Nintendo's handheld hybrid console, Pete Hines hinted that "the next Wolfenstein" game will also be available for the Nintendo Switch—although he did not specify if that meant Wolfesntein: Youngblood, or another completely new entry in the series. Regardless, it's nice to know that Bethesda will continue supporting the Nintendo Switch and are willing to bring every game they can, as long as the console can handle it.

Bethesda Game Studios, the award-winning creators of Skyrim and Fallout 4, welcome you to Fallout 76, the online prequel where every surviving human is a real person. Work together, or not, to survive. Under the threat of nuclear annihilation, you’ll experience the largest, most dynamic world ever created in the legendary Fallout universe.

Fallout 76 will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on the 14th of November.
