CD Projekt Red's Yet-To-Be-Revealed Big-Budget Video Game Is Still On Course To Release In 2021

While CD Projekt Red is focusing on Cyberpunk 2077, it doesn't mean that the Polish game developer is not working on anything else – and it looks like their next big thing will be indeed releasing in 2021...

The Warsaw-based CD Projekt Red is one busy studio that is working not only on Gwent: The Witcher Card Game - Crimson Curse and Cyberpunk 2077, but also a yet-to-be-revealed big-budget video game.

While it's hard to say what that third title might be, there's a big chance that it's actually a new entry in The Witcher saga. Last March, CDP Red's President and CEO Adam Kiciński said that they "can’t create Witcher IV because that was a trilogy from the beginning," but it obviously doesn't mean that the Andrzej Sapkowski-created universe will be completely abandoned – especially when Netflix's take on the hit book series (with Henry "Man of Steel" Cavill portraying Geralt or Rivia) is on the horizon.

Asked about CDP Red's plans for 2016-2021 during a recent AMA session for investors, CD Projekt's Moderator Donata Popławska revealed (in Polish) that "the strategy of the CD PROJEKT Capital Group for years 2016-2021 and the plans to release a second "AAA" video game in 2021 haven't changed."

Given that Cyberpunk 2077 probably won't be released this year (rumor has it that it's a cross-gen title that would launch in mid-2020), the fact that CDP Red's next project is still on course to hit stores in 2021 is an interesting turn of events. If 2077 and the 2021 title are as good as The Wticher III: Wild Hunt, players will definitely appreciate the chance to buy two excellent games in the span of one year.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a narrative-driven, open world RPG set in the most vibrant and dangerous metropolis of the future — Night City. You play as V, a hired gun on the rise, who just got their first serious contract. In a world of cyberenhanced street warriors, tech-savvy netrunners and corporate life-hackers, today is your first step to becoming an urban legend. Cyberpunk 2077 is set in the same universe as Mike Pondsmith's classic pen & paper RPG system, Cyberpunk 2020.

Cyberpunk 2077's release date has not been officially revealed yet.
