After 22 years since Naughty Dog released Crash Bandicoot: Warped, Activision and Toys For Bob have brought back the Crash Bandicoot series with Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time —with a ver self-aware title that perfectly sums up what was on everybody's minds when the game was announced: it's about time.
While there have been other Crash Bandicoot titles after Naughty Dog stopped developing the series, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is a direct sequel to the third title, and the developers at Toys For Bob(with some help from the lads at Beenox) have made sure to bring back all of the elements that made the series a household name.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time was initially announced for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and some fans thought this was rather unusual considering that the next generation of consoles is right around the corner; making them wonder if the game would also be revealed for next-gen consoles in the near future.
While the announcement doesn't officially come from Activision or developer Toys For Bob, the Entertainment Software Rating Board(ESRB) has spoiled the surprise, as Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time has been rated for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Shout outs to the people over at Video Games Chronicle for pointing us in the right direction.
A release date was not revealed by the ESRB, but it is ver plausible that Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time ends up releasing at some point this Holiday, or early next year. The ESRB also doesn't reveal whether the game will also be releasing on PlayStation 5, although this is very likely the case. Perhaps, even a PC version will be announced?
Now that we now that Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is also releasing on Xbox Series X(and presumably PlayStation 5), we can only hope for Activision to give players the chance to upgrade to the next-gen version of the game for free. Fingers crossed.
Picking up where the original trilogy left off, Neo Cortex and DR. Nefarious Tropy have escaped their interdimensional prison and in doing so have fractured the boundaries of time and space. It's up to Crash and Coco to save the day.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is currently available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
