Cuphead is a very unique platformer, developed by Studio MDHR and originally released for the Xbox One and Microsoft Windows 10, that launched in September of 2017; being received with critical praise with a very solid 88/100 on review aggregator site Metacritic.
Eventually, Studio MDHR's critically acclaimed, and unforgiving run and gun title was released for macOS in 2018, and had a very surprising announcement for the Nintendo Switch earlier this year; finally releasing on Nintendo's handheld hybrid in April.
There's no doubt that
Cuphead has managed to surprise us all in the best possible way, and today it was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter that the acclaimed title has already managed to sell over a very impressive 4 million copies worldwide.
It is very likely that Studio MDHR's title releasing on the Nintendo Switch has helped
Cuphead reach that impressive milestone, as a lot of people see the advantqge in being able to take the game on-the-go.
Last week Studio MDHR announced that they were pushing back the
Cuphead DLC for 2020, releasing a teaser trailer to keep players excited any way. The game has been selling really well, and the fact that the developer is still supporting it can only mean good things for both players and the developers themselves.
Cuphead is a classic run-and-gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930s, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional hand drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings.
Cuphead is currently available for the Xbox One Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows 10(Steam, GOG).
