According to UK charts, Hideo Kojima's highly anticipated
Death Stranding has had a pretty great launch — as the long-awaited title has managed to become the second biggest PlayStation 4 launch of the year behind Bend Studio's
Days Gone.
This new information has also revealed that not only is Kojima Productions'
Death Stranding the second biggest launch on the PlayStation 4, but it is also the second biggest intellectual property of 2019; again, losing out to
Days Gone.
To put things into perspective, Bend Studio and Sony Entertainment Interactive released
Days Gone in April of this year, and
Death Stranding has currently sold 36% fewer copies than the horror survival title.
This week's UK charts also saw Kojima Productions'
Death Stranding comfortably making its way into the second place, but fails to overthrow Activision's
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare — which has been in the number one spot for three weeks in a row.
When it comes to new releases this week,
Need for Speed: Heat,
Fortnite: Darkfire Bundle, and
Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 managed to get the 5th, 7th, and 8th positions, respectively.
It is also worth mentioning that this week's information has only considered boxed releases of these titles; digital sales have not been included at all.
