During
Capcom's latest financial results Q&A, the Japanese video game developer revealed that
Devil May Cry 5 has managed to become the best-selling title in the critically acclaimed
Devil May Cry series — with a grand total of 3.1 million of units sold since launch.
According to the information revealed by Capcom,
Devil May Cry 5 sales were mostly attributed to promotions during the Tokyo Game Show, as well as the Holiday season, and that "
going forward, we will continue to promote sales while closely watching consumer demand."
Devil May Cry 5 was released in March of 2019, and in less than a year it has already surpassed lifetime sales of
Devil May Cry 4, which was the previous record holder with 3 million units sold since its release all the way back in 2008.
To put things into perspective, the
Devil May Cry series, as a whole, has sold a very respectable 21 million copies as of the 31st of December in 2019. The first title in the series was released in 2001, so it is very likely that Capcom still has in store more surprises for fans — especially after the success that
Devil May Cry 5 has had.
A new demonic invasion has begun with the seeds of a demon tree being sown in Red Grave City. Now fully equipped with his trusty Red Queen and Blue Rose, and a new arsenal of rad robot hands thanks to his partner Nico, Nero must rise up to this new impossible task. With such insane amount of energy and destruction emanating from this surprise invasion, the stage is now set for the latest chapter of the “Sons of Sparda” saga.
Devil May Cry 5 is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
