Techland may be currently busy working on
Dying Light 2 and an unannounced RPG (with a shared 300 million zloty [roughly $80 million] budget), but it doesn't mean that the Polish game developer doesn't think about its next projects. While
Hellraid, the renowned studio's first-person hack’n’slash game set in a dark fantasy universe, has been ultimately canceled, it turns out it may return in the future.
In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, Techland CEO Paweł Marchewka reaffirmed that
Hellraid is remaining "
in the fridge," but there's hope the works on this promising title will start over one day.
“
We decided to freeze development on the product to concentrate on Dying Light... It’s still an interesting concept, though, so we hope one day we will come back to it," Marchewka said. "
It’s just a question of getting all hands on board with its development, with an independent team that wouldn’t need our input on a daily basis, and we just can’t afford to do this right now. One day!”
Hellraid originally featured three game modes that could be played both solo and in 2-4 player co-op.
While the
Hellraid ship has seemingly sailed, Techland's next big thing,
Dying Light 2, is still on course, set to release this year. We definitely will learn more about the zombie title during E3 2019 in June.
