Chris Columbus, director of Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire and the first two (and also the best) Harry Potter films, will write and direct the movie adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy’s. Blumhouse, the well-known company responsible for last year's breakout hits Get Out and Split, but also low-budget series such as Insidious, The Purge and Paranormal Activity will produce the horror flick.
Creator and designer Scott Cawthon, Jason Blum and Columbus will co-produce the Five Nights at Freddy’s film. Blumhouse purchased the rights to the series last year from Warner Bros.'s New Line Cinema. Cawthon has released six "big" Five Nights at Freddy’s games since 2014. The (mostly) poorly made products quickly became big hits on Twitch thanks to their "jump scare" potential.
