NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games' Injustice series has been around for quite a while now — with Injustice: Gods Among Us, the first game in the series, releasing in April of 2013, and its sequel becoming available in May of 2017, for the current generation of consoles, and improving on pretty much every aspect from the original.
While the developers supported Injustice 2 until fairly recently, once Mortal Kombat 11 released, the superhero fighting game hasn't been the studio's main focus — which is more than understandable, since they did release quite the handful of characters to keep things interesting.
It's been already three years since Injustice 2 was released, and if a brand-new entry in the critically acclaimed series is to be announced, now it would be the perfect time, since the next generation of consoles is just around the corner.
As it turns out, fans believe that the announcement is only a matter of time; today more than ever, as NetherRealm Studios' Ed Boon has recently confirmed that he will be attending this year's DC FanDome event; information revealed in a tweet alluding to the event's official line-up reveal by DC Comics.
Now, could an announcement actually be made during the event? The fact that Ed Boon is going to be part of the event doesn't 100% confirm that an Injustice 3 announcement is impending, but it does make it a whole lot more plausible.
DC FanDome is expected to take place on Saturday the 22nd of August, although further details about when Ed Boon's panel will be streamed is yet to be confirmed. Whatever the case, we'll make sure to keep you posted. This is exciting news, and we can't wait to see what Boon's appearance at the event means for the Injustice franchise.
