There may not be an
Avengers film coming out this spring but fans are certainly looking forward to a video game of the same name. With Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics working together to deliver Earth's Mightiest Heroes to the Marvel Gamerverse - fans are thrilled to find out what is in store.
The first trailer for
Marvel's Avengers, titled
A-Day showed players that they would be able to play as Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, and Hulk in the game - with Kamala Khan later confirmed to be the sixth. Outside of that, no other characters have been confirmed, but the combination of
Captain Marvel's box office success and the fact that Ms. Marvel is in the game has fans believing she'll be in the game as well. Now, due to some upcoming LEGO sets, fans are beginning to believe there might be at least two more Avengers available in the game.
The new lego sets, titled Avengers Speed Bike Attack and Avengers Truck Takedown feature both Black Panther and Hawkeye going up against A.I.M. - the Advance Idea Mechanics - the villainous group that will come into the light when
Marvel's Avengers is released in May. On top of the fact that they are facing the same villains as the movie and the timing factor of the LEGO set releases, its likely that this is to hype up the game. With
Black Widow's release not even two weeks prior, its obvious these sets aren't in regards to the Cinematic Universe, and while they
could just be for fun - its likely that there is a reasoning for these specific characters.
Black Panther makes sense as a character to add considering he spearheaded the first Marvel Cinematic Universe film to follow an African American hero and the massive popularity surrounding the character and the franchise. And Hawkeye makes sense as well as he is the only character of the main six in the MCU that hasn't been confirmed for this game yet, and the team clearly takes inspiration from that universe.
Check out both of the sets below and you'll notice that Thor comes with Black Panther and Captain America comes with Hawkeye - both of which are playable characters in
Marvel's Avengers and the similarities between Captain America's game costume and his lego one have already been drawn by fans. Take a look at the sets for yourself.
Obviously none of this serves as definite confirmation but it is definitely a reasonable theory after looking at all of the evidence. But let us know what you think! Are these characters going to be a part of
Marvel's Avengers or is this just another example of people reading too far into things? Let us know your thoughts in the comments and check out the trailer for
Marvel's Avengers below!
Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Marvel's Avengers will be released on PS4, PC, and Xbox One on May 15, 2020.
