Nintendo insider
@New_WabiSabi has recently revealed that the Japanese developer may have a few surprises for two series that they have been somewhat neglecting in recent years, as rumour has it that these two franchises would be getting new titles for the Nintendo Switch.
According to the information revealed, a brand-new 2D
Metroid is very likely to be released for the Nintendo Switch, as well as a new, and more traditional entry in the
Paper Mario series; rumour also claims that both of these titles could be released as soon as this year.
For the longest time, a
Metroid Prime HD Remaster has been rumoured to be releasing for the Nintendo Switch, although Nintendo has never neither confirmed nor denied said rumours; considering that the long-awaited
Metroid Prime 4 has been indefinitely pushed back, it makes sense to release something in between.
Where things get interesting is with the
Paper Mario rumour, especially since many consider
Paper Mario: The Tousand Year Door to be the last traditional title in the series; a game that was released for the Nintendo GameCube all the way back in 2004.
For those wondering, @New_WabiSabi has a great track record when it comes to "leaking" information about the video game industry that turns out to be true, so this news about Nintendo releasing a new
Paper Mario and a 2D
Metroid can almost be considered a certainty. As per usual, however, we still suggest taking this news with a pinch of salt.
