We have some exciting news for fans of Square Enix's The World Ends With You series, since a brand-new artwork by Tetsuya Nomura and Gen Kobayashi has been shared by the official Twitter acount for Anime Expo; hinting at the series long-awaited return.

For those not familiar with The World Ends With You, it is basically an action-adventure game with role-playing elements that was initially released for the Nintendo DS all the way back in 2008, and was recently re-released a couple of years ago in the form of The World Ends With You: Final Remix for the Nintendo Switch.

Since the game was re-released on the Nintendo Switch, we haven't heard anything at all about this beloved role-playing series, so Anime Expo sharing brand-new artwork is definitely some news that will get players excited; the re-release may have paved the way for a fully fledged sequel, and is now time for Square Enix to unveil it.

Anime Expo Lite will stream on the 3rd and 4th of July, so fans of The World Ends With You series will have to patiently wait until the livestream to get news about what seems to be a brand-new project. In the meantime, be sure to check out Nomura and Kobayashi's phenomenal new artwork down below.
