Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time wasn't a complete box office disaster (the Disney flick used to be the highest-grossing video game movie with $336,365,676), 2016's
Assassin's Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard was a huge letdown for everyone involved. Despite all odds, it looks like Ubisoft still believes in its Motion Pictures division.
In an interview with Variety, Margaret Boykin, director of film development, revealed that the studio is working on scripts for a
Child of Light live-action television show and a
Werewolves Within movie. Both video game adaptations are products of the company’s inaugural Women’s Film and Television Fellowship, a program specifically designed to attract and illuminate female voices within the entertainment industry.
Boykin confirmed that American writers Mishna Wolff and Tasha Huo were selected as the first two in the program. Wolff is currently wiring a script for a film adaptation of Ubisoft’s virtual reality game
Werewolves Within, and Huo is scripting a pilot for the television adaptation of role-playing hit game
Child of Light. Ubisoft still hasn't announced when those two new projects will start filming.
