October 21 is Back to the Future Day and Universal Games has some fun plans in store for gamers!
For example, SYBO, the mobile games studio behind the most downloaded game of the past decade, Subway Surfers, is launching a limited-time, Back to the Future in-game bundle purchase which will be available through October 31.
Created in collaboration with Universal Games and Digital Platforms, this marks the first time a film IP has been integrated into the mobile game, and the bundle will include a fun new take on the iconic Subway Surfers' runner, "Outatime Jake." He'll be decked out in a special "Future McFly Outfit" inspired by Marty McFly's outfit from the 1985 film and that will, of course, be accompanied by an exclusive Back to the Future-themed hoverboard.
"Partnering with best-in-class game studios for creative integrations of our iconic franchises is key to the success of reaching new audiences and delighting generations of fans," says Universal Games' Bill Kispert. "Bringing the timeless world of 'Back to the Future; to life with a 'Subway Surfers' twist is a fun-filled fit and we are excited to launch this integration just in time for the annual 'Back to the Future' Day!"
That's not the only game you'll see get new Back to the Future theming in, though, as FuturLab and Square Enix Collective, in collaboration with Universal Games and Digital Platforms, are bringing the iconic franchise to PowerWash Simulator in a Special Pack!
As we're sure you'll agree, this looks like an absolute blast...
In related news, Funko has also revealed the latest lineup of Digital Pop! collectables inspired by iconic characters from Back to the Future. The collection features Marty McFly, Doc Brown, Lorraine Baines, Griff Tannen, George McFly, and Freddy Funko as Doc Brown in Funko Pop! style inspired by all three films.
Each of these will be available on October 17 via the Droppp.io platform and every purchase offers collectors the opportunity to reveal a rare Funko Digital Pop!, which can be redeemed for one of six corresponding limited-edition physical Pop! Collectibles.
Subway Surfers is available and free to download on iOS, Android, and other platforms with in-app purchases. As for that PowerWash Simulator expansion, it will retail for $7.99 and arrives next month on Steam, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
Back to the Future rightly remains a beloved classic and we're definitely excited to check out these collaborations!
