The Icecrown Citadel is stepping out of World of Warcraft and into Dungeons & Dragons. A fresh leak from Italian retailer Il Covo del Nerd has confirmed that one of the most iconic raids in WoW history will be adapted as a full tabletop adventure in the upcoming official crossover expansion.
The Icecrown Citadel Map Pack is listed as a high-level campaign designed for characters levels 16 through 20. It brings the Frozen Throne and the Lich King into 5th Edition, complete with five double-sided poster maps covering key encounters, 74 cardboard creature tokens, and a code for the digital version on D&D Beyond. For players who still remember the original raid’s atmosphere with the echoing halls, the frost-covered platforms, and the final confrontation with Arthas. This adaptation looks like a direct translation of that experience into a format Dungeon Masters can run at the table.

This map pack sits alongside a much larger sourcebook that appears to be the heart of the crossover. Retail listings describe a comprehensive Game Expansion for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition that includes rules for all 13 World of Warcraft classes, nine new or revised subclasses, more than 40 specializations, and all 16 playable races. That roster stretches from classic options to newer additions like Dracthyr, Haranir, Mechagnomes, and Vulpera. The book also packs in over 60 new spells, more than 25 magic items, iconic mounts and companions, seven fully rebuilt dungeons with boss encounters, and a bestiary of 50-plus monsters.
Two versions of the main sourcebook are listed: a standard edition and an alternative cover. A higher-priced slipcase collector’s edition offers the same content in hardcover form. A Dungeon Master screen featuring World of Warcraft artwork is also part of the planned accessories.
The broader crossover first surfaced when Roll20 briefly published a blog post announcing that pre-orders for a "D&D World of Warcraft" product were live. The post was quickly taken down, but not before screenshots and promotional art that features imagery from The War Within circulated widely. That early leak pointed toward a Gen Con reveal, and the new retailer listings appear to confirm the scope of what is coming.
For many players, Icecrown Citadel remains the emotional high point of Wrath of the Lich King. Translating that raid into a levels 16-20 D&D adventure gives tabletop groups a chance to experience the same story beats with dice and miniatures. The inclusion of physical poster maps and creature tokens suggests the designers want the encounters to feel tactile and cinematic rather than purely theater-of-the-mind.
This is not the first time Warcraft and Dungeons & Dragons have overlapped. The early 2000s saw official Warcraft RPG books using a modified d20 system, but those have been out of print for more than twenty years. A full Fifth Edition treatment that brings over classes, races, spells, and one of WoW’s most famous raids marks a much larger and more ambitious crossover than anything previously attempted.
No official release date or pricing has been confirmed by Wizards of the Coast or Blizzard. The retailer listings and earlier Roll20 post remain unofficial, yet the level of detail of specific page counts of content, exact adventure level range, and component lists makes this one of the more substantial leaks in recent memory. Gen Con programming has already positioned a major D&D announcement, and this product appears to be the leading candidate.
Whether players approach it as a way to run high-level D&D campaigns in Azeroth or as a chance to experience Icecrown Citadel with pencil and paper, the leaked material suggests the crossover is designed to deliver both mechanical depth and nostalgia in equal measure. For now, the Icecrown Citadel Map Pack stands as the clearest signal yet that one of World of Warcraft’s greatest stories is preparing to hit the tabletop. Would you play through it?
