Arcane, Netflix's 2021 animated steampunk action-adventure series, surpassed all expectations, shocking both audiences and critics alike.
The League of Legends animated television series created by Fortiche, began on November 21, 2021, with a nine-episode first season. The show went on to win the Outstanding Animated Program Emmy at the 74th Primetime Creative Arts Emmys, earning plaudits from critics all over the world. With its win, the show became the first streaming program to take home the honor.
At Tencent's (Riot Games' parent company) Video V Vision Conference, it was stated that Arcane Season 2 would not be launched until Q4 2024. Online, fans of the MOBA adaptation speculated that the show's second season would likely premiere in November 2024, to coincide with the 15th anniversary of League of Legends.
That speculation was dead on, as today, Netflix confirmed that season 2 would be released next November with a brand new teaser.
Riot CEO Nicolo Laurent previously disclosed that it took 6 years to get the first season of Arcane made, so while the 3 years between seasons may seem like a long wait, it seems production times are actually being reduced.
Series stars Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell and Katie Leung, are all expected to reprise their roles as Vi, Jinx and Caitlyn Kiramman, respectively.
