The LCS just pulled off one of the biggest results of League of Legends Worlds 2026 so far. Team Liquid Alienware swept Anyone's Legend 2-0 in a Swiss Stage elimination match, knocking the LPL's top seed out of the tournament.
Both teams entered the best-of-three series at 0-2, so the loser was going home. The official LoL Esports account celebrated the result right after the final Nexus fell.
How Team Liquid Won The Series
The match took place at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas, and Team Liquid looked like the better-prepared team from the draft onward. Game 1 started with a strong bot lane trade that set up a dive for first blood, and CoreJJ's Nami soon roamed top to help Morgan's Camille get going.
Anyone's Legend found some answers through jungler Tarzan, whose Skarner ganks picked off Yeon's Lucian and later helped shut down Camille. But Team Liquid controlled the dragons, built up stacks and forced AL into bad fights. The game ended with Camille landing a hard engage that led to an ace while AL tried to defend Dragon Soul a second time, with Liquid holding a gold lead of more than 14,000.
Game 2 was much closer. AL invested in Hope's Jinx and won several objective fights behind Shanks' Annie. The turning point came during the crucial Soul fight, when Annie was caught out first and Team Liquid took Baron. With a big gold lead and AL hoping for a full-build Jinx to save them, Liquid picked off Breathe's Olaf ahead of the seventh dragon, claimed Dragon Soul and closed the game out in an extended fight.
A Historic Exit For The LPL
This is a stunning result for Anyone's Legend. The team won the LPL's third split and arrived at Worlds as China's first seed, but finished the Swiss Stage 0-3 without winning a single game across its three series. It is the first time an LPL top seed has gone winless at Worlds since the league was established in 2013.
AL's rough run started with a Round 1 loss to Karmine Corp, a game where KC top laner Canna picked up a quadra kill. Another defeat followed in Round 2 against fellow LPL team Top Esports, which left them needing a win against Team Liquid that never came. AL and Team Secret Whales, who fell to LOS, are the first two teams eliminated from Worlds 2026.
What Comes Next For Team Liquid
Team Liquid had their own slow start. They dropped their opening matches, including a loss to Bilibili Gaming in Round 2, before the win over AL moved them to 1-2. That means they are still one loss away from elimination.
Their next opponent is LOS, the Brazilian representative that also survived an elimination series on the same day with a 2-0 win over Team Secret Whales. Team Liquid Alienware vs LOS is set for Friday, October 30 at 1 PM PT, and it is another best-of-three elimination match. The winner advances to Round 5 and stays alive in the hunt for the quarterfinals.
At the top of the bracket, Dplus KIA and Gen.G have already locked in their quarterfinal spots, as we covered when both teams went 3-0. Round 4 runs from October 28 to 30, followed by the final Swiss round on October 31, where the last three quarterfinal spots will be decided.
A Big Moment For The LCS
Western teams have struggled against the LPL and LCK for years, so any series win over China's top seed is worth celebrating, and a clean 2-0 sweep is even better. Whether Team Liquid can build on it is the next question, but they have already given LCS fans one of the most memorable wins of the tournament.
Can Team Liquid get past LOS and make a run to the quarterfinals?
