Back in May it was announced that Arcane, an animated series inspired by the hit MOBA game League of Legends, will be coming to Netflix this fall. With the streaming giant readying to host Tudum, its first ever global virtual fan event, on Saturday, Riot Games has shared all-new character posters along with the voice cast for the animated series.
For those unfamiliar, Arcane is set in the utopian region of Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun. The series will follow the origins of two League champions, and the power that tears them apart. Although Vi and Jinx seem to be the two main stars, the series will also feature fellow League champions Jayce, Caitlyn, and Viktor. There's also a few new characters: Silco, Mel, and Vander.
Vi, the once criminal of Zaun who now works with the Wardens to keep peace in Piltover, is voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, star of Bumblee and the upcoming Disney+ Marvel series Hawkeye (where she plays Kate Bishop). Vi's sister, Jinx, will be voiced by Ella Purnell (Army of the Dead, Star Trek: Prodigy).
Fellow League Champion Jayce is voiced by Kevin Alejandro (Arrow, True Blood), while Katie Leung (Harry Potter) voices Caitlyn, Vi's cop partner. Harry Lloyd (Legion) rounds out the trio of League champions as Viktor.
The series also features a few characters new to the League universe, including Silco, voiced by Jason Spisak (Young Justice), and Mel, voiced by Toks Olagundoye (Castlevania, DuckTales). Vander, who actually shares a name with a pro League player, is another new character voiced by JB Blanc (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul).
The official trailer for Arcane will release this Saturday, September 25, during Tudum. The virtual livestream begins at 9:00 a.m. PST/12pm EST, although the time for Arcane's trailer debut is to be announced. Hopefully, we also learn more details about the series and get a premiere date as well.
