Mass Effect Coming To PC

You heard right. Apparently Mass Effect's status as an Xbox 360 exclusive title is apparently over.

EA has announced it is to publish Mass Effect for PC in May 2008. BioWare has redesigned the award-winning sci-fi action adventure title for the PC, including optimized controls, higher quality graphics, a new decryption mini-game, and new inventory management - making it easier for players to equip and modify their weapons and armor.

BioWare has also added ability to map biotic powers and skills to hot keys, allowing users to bypass menu access. The hope is that this will create a more "run and gun" style of play, with a heavier focus on action.

The recent announcement also shed some light on the future of the Mass Effect franchise. BioWare vp Ray Muzyka stated: "EA has struck an agreement with Microsoft to handle future publishing for Mass Effect. We are looking forward to releasing Mass Effect on the PC this Spring and brand new titles in the future."

New titles in the Mass Effect franchise are certainly coming, but the details aren't exactly crystal-clear. The above statement makes it clear that Mass Effect will be available for the Xbox 360, but will it remain an exclusive?
