Bruce Straley Isn't Going To Direct THE LAST OF US PART II
Bruce Straley deserves a large portion of the credit for making The Last of Us such an amazing and successful game, as he was the game's director. However, he is stepping down and won't be returning for the second part of the story. Click the jump to find out more.
Bruce Straley, the man behind the games The Last of Us and Uncharted 4 has decided to step down for the time being and take a much needed break. What this sadly means is that fans who were hoping to see his handy work on the upcoming The Last of Us Part II will unfortunately not get their wish, as he isn't going to make a grand entrance back into video game directing with that venture.
The story first broke that he wasn't going to be coming back on Kotaku, who reported that he was taking a year long sabbatical. Sony then went on to confirm the news, with a Sony spokesperson having this official statement:
“Bruce recently decided to take some much deserved time off after shipping two critically acclaimed games in the last few years. He’s looking forward to returning to the studio soon and jumping back in on his next project.”
While Straley won't be the one behind the wheel on The Last of Us Part II, Neil Druckmann will be taking on the responsibility. Now, Straley may end up doing something for the game when all is said and done, but as of this moment, he has stepped down from his position.
