A picture that gives us our first look at the developer's kit for Sony's highly anticipated PlayStation 5 has managed to make its way online, and it may also give us an idea of what the console may actually look like when it is finally unveiled by Sony.

The information was originally shared by Twitter user @Alcoholikaust, but was later confirmed to be legitimate by The Verge Senior Editor Tom Warren, who has revealed some interesting details about the dev kit's odd shape.

According to Warren, the PlayStation 5 dev kit's v-shaped form is to make these kits more easily stackable; a shape that also helps optimise the kit's cooling by pushing air out of the sides and centre of the console.

Now, video game console dev kits don't usually look like the final product, so it is very likely that the PlayStation 5 will not end up looking like the dev kit. With all that said, it is also a possibility that shouldn't be 100% ruled out, but it is still worth mentioning.

What do you think the PlayStation 5 will end up looking like? If the dev kit is actually the console's official shape when it is unveiled, do you like what it currently looks like? Let us know in the comments section below!
