With the PlayStation 5 officially available worldwide, millions of gamers have finally gotten a first-hand look at how innovative and unique the new console is. What has made the PS5 so specialize that it isn't just the next stage of gaming; it's also a celebration of the past four consoles and just how much the Playstation has grown since its debut in 1994.
Brought to life by Sony, the console has always been a huge hit with fans; however, the release of the PS5 has revealed that its sales may not have met the expectations that heads of the company had expected. According to sales numbers brought in since the console's release, the PS5 has only sold 118,000 units in its first four days. This has made it become the second-lowest selling console only after the PS3.
However, what is ironic is that while sales have been lower, it doesn't mean that the console has failed in its home country of Japan. With the system being produced at a lower volume upon release, the moment that it hit retailers, the console sold out almost instantly. Because of that, what ended up happening was that the supply of the PS5 couldn't meet the demand.
What this could mean is that the sales of the console will most likely trend upwards, but until factories put out the consoles at a higher rate, it may be a while before the sales of the PS5 reflect its popularity in Japan.
