Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will fully be revealed this week during Gamescom Opening Night on Tuesday, August 19th. However, it seems some key launch details have leaked.
First and foremost, According to French website Dealabs, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will launch on November 14. The release date is fairly in line with past Call of Duty games, which have typically launched during the October/November holiday window. For comparison, last year’s Black Ops 6 hit shelves on October 25, 2024.
However, this year is particularly interesting. While November itself is relatively quiet for big releases, Activision’s shooter will arrive just weeks after its biggest rival. EA’s highly anticipated Battlefield 6 is slated to release on October 10, 2025, a full month earlier. It will be interesting to track how Battlefield 6 impacts the sales of Black Ops 7, which appears could suffer a bit form Call of Duty fatigue. Then again, it feels like industry analysts say this every year with Call of Duty and the franchise still continues to put up record sales numbers.
In addition to the release date, Dealabs reports that Black Ops 7 will cost 79.99 euros, which suggests a $69.99 price in the United States. After originally announcing plans to increase the price of its Xbox first party games to $80, Microsoft backtracked and in July confirmed that Obisidian's The Outer Worlds 2, along with the rest of Xbox's holiday games, would continue to be priced at $69.99.
In a bit of disappointing news, it appears that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be skipping the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch. Desptie Microsoft's “binding 10-year legal agreement” to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo platforms, Dealabs reports Black Ops 7 will not be ready for the Switch 2 at launch.
In June, Activison told IGN that the studio was still working with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty to the Switch. "We’re committed to getting the franchise on Switch. Both teams are working on it," Activision said in a statement. "Will share details when ready."
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to be fully revealed next week at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live on August 19 at 11:00 a.m. PT / 2:00 p.m. ET. Ahead of the reveal, Activision has kicked off a fake marketing campaign for the fictional robotics company called The Guild. A corporate website for The Guild was launched, followed by advertorial and "cover" placements at Wired and Forbes. The marketing push concluded with the release of a new video ad, which you can watch below:
The Guild is the in-game robotics company at the heart of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. In the new game, The Guild develops robotics to better society – and their CEO Emma Kagan claims to be humanity’s last line of defense against this emerging threat.
We should get confirmation of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's release date and pricing during the full reveal on August 19th, so be sure to check back!
